Some bad info on this thread. Echo is worthless and frozen.Snow is no factor. Like Tote said grow a pair. Fish are totally in shallows less than 200ft. People catch monsters from shore all the time.  Its mid march... totally doable dress to stay dry.

Supposed to snow pretty heavy Thursday night.  Here's some info on Caltrans;
When there is heavy snow on 50, Caltrans needs to assess avalanche conditions.  They can not do that until it gets light enough out to see the effects of their guns.  That means the highway will usually be open until then.  Then they close the highway, usually around sunrise, until they are done with the controls, usually around noon.  So I'd recommend getting over the summit before Friday sunrise.
Not saying they will do avalanche controls Friday morning, but there's a pretty good chance they will to some extent.
The same goes for 88 over by Kirkwood.

So, I've been fishing my secret lakes recentlly and I want to point out one of my biggest issues; icing of the rod guides. Makes it hard to cast after reeling in wet line that freezes on the guides!
