Hit it early w/ Jonesz. It was a little breezy and cool early on. Chased boils near the ramp and when that slowed down we chased them out towards Crappie Cove. It was a big long bust and two other yaks happened to be right at the bust. One of them got a fish. I also bumped into Darren(?).
I landed 3 nice largemouth on topwater and lost a striper due to broken hook.
Fun, fun, fun.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

my buddy and i were the ones in that phat boil in crappie cove. this was our first trip to mendo and our first time striper fishing. I never actually thought we would see any fish, I was content to just get out of the house,on to the water and meet some ncka fisherman.Youre stories and photos have been a great source of pleasure for me since discovering this site last winter. We showed up at the south ramp at 5am and shortly thereafter jonesz rolled up all puffy-eyed and helpful. He pointed us towards crappie cove and gave us some good pointers. We did just like jonesz said and found ourselves in the middle of a 15 minute boil right next to the bank at the south side of the entrance to crappie cove. We were totally awestruck. All those ferocious flopping fish freaked me out man.It was like some mad aquatic mosh-pit. My buddy hooked a 29 incher on his first cast. I watched him get towed upand down the shoreline screaming like an alter-boy being chased around confessional booth by his priest. After about 10 minutes i caught up to him and put my billy-club to the priests skull and layed his limp lifeless corpse in the bottom of my boat. Fishing is so cool!!!!!!

Well the stripe is getting wider  :smt012 I had my opportunity, but pulled a rookie move. I was casting with a fluke the night before, so I tightened my drag, but when I troll I like to loosen it so the fish can take line while it's in the rod holder. I forgot to loosen it in the morning and when I finally hooked a nice one, the rod was bent in half, so much I couldn't get it out till the line snapped... :smt013 Only good grab of the day for me. We saw several boils including one right next to me. Threw a top water to no avail... Then I passed on a small swirl only to watch Juan hook and loose the one he had on right at the swirl. It broke his hook. Another lesson learned, throw at everything!!! I was distracted by a large boil out of reach. Something about the bird in the hand... :smt002 Last night it was windy till dark and nothing showed.  Kayakjack and his buddie walked right into a huge boil. The longest one I've seen, but it was on the other side of the lake. It was so big we could see it all the way across!! Lady luck was smiling on em. Talked to Frank on the radio, he got out late, and came up empty. The curse lives on...
