Can't stand it- going to find a place to launch near Carquinez/rodeo and try to get in on the striper action over there.

has anyone ever launched over there?

I don't know about any launch sites, but I just came over the Carqenez Brige and saw a party boat and a few private pb's working north of the bride on he west side @ 11:30..........Danglin

I was wondering about Rodeo after reading this morning's fishing report on SFgate.com.

"Go to Friday, and follow the big boats to Rodeo, off the end of what looks like a refinery dock, near to where the Fish and Game has been releasing salmon smolt. Old skipper's trick, this one, but, lordy, it does ring the breakfast, lunch and dinner bell for any striped bass in the area. The party boats, muscling in on the small-boat trollers, drifted live anchovy on three-way setups, and the Happy Hooker had 28 limits of bass in less than an hour, the New Huck Finn 20 limits. The fish mostly were schoolies, but they bit with the kind of abandon that makes for a party-boat day."

SteveS,

Try to launch in Glen Cove area by the Marina east side of Carquinez Bridge... or you can just fished on that area.....

Do a search for the Nantucket restauraunt in Crockett.  Map the address.  When you get there, you'll no doubtedly find a launch spot just north of the restauraunt.  Pretty cool little spot and you'll be right under the bridge.  Good luck.

Ps. there is also eckley pier just down the road, gate opens around 7 i believe.

Went to go check out JTF's advice today and it's true, Place is a bit " Raw ", you might even say it has a "Limbicness" to it :smt005 , but gives you access....

Brought my Yak, but it was windy and dirty, still had to be a Dozen plus bank fishermen working their way towards the point area out there, with a confident walk to them, they know something :smt012

Shot some re-con pics, high tide is somewhere around 3am tomarrow, sunrise @ 5:40, thinking of getting there around 5:15/5:30,( Pending CEO approval) little bit of a walk to launch site, bring wheels, hate to leave my yak to put stuff back @ the car around there, if ya know what I mean :tongue2: Mutants are lurking about.....

Launch area on the way out looks challenging too, shallow and exposed steel I-Beams that would do Damage,   Nantucket restaurant looks kool but expensive,$$$

  Interesting area...........Danglin

If you put in there you will never make it back....the current is UNFORGIVING!!   If you want to fish the RODEO AREA?   get off at the WILLOW exit (80-eastbound) only exit of that town, make a right at the lights.Continue straight and the steet will turn into PARKER AVE. There is a SAFEWAY and other stores on the way to the water.
Keep going straight and you will get to a turn/curve in the road, look to the left and there is a cove/lagoon there(auto body shop is closed and you can park in the lot there). I have parked in that lot and overhead carry the yak over the Railroad tracks and into the water.BE SURE to get out of the water before LOW-TIDE or there will not be any water in there to paddle.Once out on the water you can see the Carquinez and the piers you are talking about to the N.E.

PBer's troll that area alot( see rockwall/jetty to the left that protects the marina as you paddle out)

If I didn't have house stuff to do I would be checking it out too!  the wind can be bad if it's blowin across the bay!

Hope you find em'......and when you do?  tell them i'll be there next!

Interesting... Something about that water/wind today looked ominous,  Thought it might be better without the wind, but tomorrow won't be much better with the tide being low around 8:00, makes things tight, might have to rethink this one.............Thanks...........Danglin
