So if some of you remember,a while back I posted a tread about how brand new reels from the factory are not getting lubed properly.so far this issue has been with shimano.i have a new zillion that I havnt taken apart to look at.when I do I'll post it up.

So my friends nephew asked me to take a look at his reel.he says it feels like the gears were not catching. It's a shimano casitas.

So as I took the spool out,I look in where the pinion hole is and kinda knew what it might be.

So as I took the cover off there is very, very minimal amount of grease.this being a lower grade reel the parts that are used is very poor quality.

But what he thought was the gears not engaging right it was the complete opposite. What had happen was due to the lack of grease and lube.tge pinion gear and the support bearing had rusted together.

So I took all the rusted parts and saoked it in corrosion x  and scrubbed it with a toothbrush then lubed it and greased all the parts.now it casts and retrieve like butter.

So I hate to say this but send you new reels and have it serviced (lubed)especially if your gonna use it in salt a lot.

Just a fyi headsup.happy holidays
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it
