we went for one more family trip while everybody was still excited about it all (also spot xj-15 was supposed to be stocked, but maybe they took the fish to the perc ponds for kids fish day instead, as I heard the xj-15 stock did not happen).

this time we tried a kid each in the tankwell and a parent paddling. the kids had vhf radios to test out. I set up a portable sonar unit (an eagle ds 245 for only $70 from cabelas, internet special!) for the second boat.

my wife and older boy struck first with a pretty little rainbow. it hit a 1" berkley power nymph on 3lb leader behind some seps colorado blade micro flashers and a little bullet weight to keep the rig a bit deeper. they had just one rod out, my youngest and I went with two rods out. we got two crappie on my rod with a dodger and grub while my youngest's luck finally ran out on his roostertail and salmon egg combo.

yeah, we do use baitcasters and those linecounters for 'precision' trolling,  :smt044.

but blue hold on to yours, I got about 3 or 4 of them,  :smt002.
