Before checking out the name I guess it would have been a Vietnamese or Chinese person that was caught poaching.

Yes, but I've also come across articles in which the perpetrators had Slavic last names... but yeah, it's mostly us asians 
But for every bad apple, I guess there are good examples... like ______________ (fill in your favorite asian diver).

All kinds of people do all kinds of horrible stuff...all the time...

Like John said, there are assholes in every group/town/country/ethnicity/religion/culture etc...
