Well it's been almost a month since I got to Seattle and haven't been able to get on the water.. until today that is!! :kick Since I don't know the area too much I went witha a no brainer, Lake Washington which is 10 min from my apartment.

Hit the water about 7AM to some nice calm water.
Threw out a 2" Needlefish behind some lake flashers and started trolling. In only about 10 minutes I had my first hookup with a dink Mackinaw.. cute little bugger.  I went south from there trolling in 20' of water. I didn't get anything for a while and figured I needed to be a lot deeper. I pulled out my trusty Pink Lady, used the same lake flashers and upgraded to a 4" Needlefish. Went out to about 80' of water and go the gear to about 50'. 20 minutes later got a beauty of a wild Cutthroat @ 16" :metal

After that didn't get anything else except got buzzed by a seaplane... he landed not 50' away from me!! Didn't have my camera ready though..  :smt013

BTW, my wife and I just bought our first home! It's just north of Seattle, just a hop, skip, and a jump from Puget Sound!! :smt045

If y'all in town gimme a buzz!  :beer2

Nice catch, Zee. Congrats on your new home. I've been told by friends there that the fishing is very good, even if the officials up there are also tightening fish regs (like here). I'm sure all that annual rainfall is a major reason for the great fishery.

Real nice fish.  I used to fish Coastal Cutts hard when I lived in Humboldt...one of my favorite fish.

Way to go Z,

Lake WA is a somewhat underutilized fishery right in our backyard.  There are a lot of cutts and cuttbows in the lake, some of which get up into the teens.  That's pounds, not inches.  Although most are in the 12-18" category.

Not to mention the bass fishing ... there are some decent LMB's and SMB's.  The bass fishing is just starting to warm up.  The bass fishing is good enough that it supports bass tournaments throughout the summer.

And if you ever mark a school of fish on your FF, you may want to drop a worm down there and see what's up.  Some nice schools of yellow perch roam the lake.  In the fall, they really school up in deep water, and if you find the schools, you can catch your fill in short order.
