The GWS they released in Monterey Bay had a datalogger attached that was set to pop off, float up to the surface and "phone home" after 90 days. Then it could be retrieved and the data analyzed. Everything worked but they had to go to the tip of Baja to retrieve it--1,100 miles.

Interesting story. 29 adult sharks are wearing tags now as well. It seems we are focusing on learning a lot more about our landlord.

I would like to see every shark at Ano Nuevo tagged and tracked for a year.  For something that has a yearly special (shark week), we pretty much no nothing of their behavior except they like to eat mammals and surfboards, and some of them fly.  I just hope they dont develop a taste for colorful 15' plastic hollow things that bleed when the fishin is good.
