Thsnks yakyakyak!  I will be out at slypark friday thru sunday probably going to try for smalies friday after work when i get camp set up then troll some rapalas bright and early then who knows what sunday.   But i know one thing i am going to pay attention this time to my paddle and my dig in.  Never paid much mind to it nor the fact that a lighter paddle would be better.

If you are patient, you will get a better deal.  Just google it and go to the Shopping section.  I've gotten mine at $140 new (just make sure you are getting exactly the same one).  Here is the best deal I can find so far.  You can always get one from austin kayak with their 15% discount by joining their newsletter (which is probably a better deal than below especially since they are a reputable seller).

From everything you describe, I'd go 230 or 240.
14' Necky Dolphin, fast and wiggly, no room for anything.

The carbon reinforced nylon blades are tough. You don't need to worry as much about smashing rocks with them like you do full carbon. Pushing off from shore or docks will be less stressful with the nylon blade too. Lighter than glass and aluminum for sure.
