I seem to have lost my game clip and was wondering where I can get one near San Jose or Santa Cruz. Ideally, I'd like something that won't pop open with a berserking 40 pound halibut attached (I'm an optimist).

The only place I've seen them local was at Kayak Connection in Santa Cruz. Those looked to be heavy duty, and I definitely liked that, but they are kind of small, so would probably need to get 2, which is kind of pricey...

Thanks, will do. That's in Marina? It would be a great excuse to go to Monterey...

Thanks---don't know why I didn't think to that. I've been wanting to stop by there for some other do-dads, so I'll prolly give them a try first...

Dive shop on Soquel Hwy 1 frontage road near 41st Ave near Capitola.  There's also a dive shop in Scotts Valley on Scotts Valley Drive.   One I got snapped in well, but another took quite a shove to get it to close well, which I could forget to do in the heat of battle, and would allow it to open very easily.

Geez, still haven't gotten this. Luckily (not) I haven't caught a big fish recently. I drive by that dive shop in Capitola all the time so will definitely take a look there.

I think maybe Kayak Connection had them the last time I was in there? They had a corner allocated to fishing once.

Perfect.

Edit: Just got one from that dive shop. Very nice, and should be plenty sturdy. For the record, the ones they sell at Kayak Connection are even heavier-duty, but smaller and cost 40% more.
