no bait at arrowhead marsh

i tried to net some smelt at arrowhead, but there was none. not one of anything.  i was going to fish arw tommorrow, now i am unsure.

Sorry to hear that the bait fish aren't cooperating with you.  I've mooched bait from you in the past so I know that nothing is wrong with your technique.  I have tried to net bait at low tide and that doesn't work unless you find decent water under one of the (Pardee St) bridges or off the piers.  We've thrown our nets off the rocks in he past and have ended up getting snagged.  The tide was really low today so hopefully you went close to high tide (5:00 PM), I've found that it makes a difference.

Doug caught a halibut on a dead smelt so if you have some frozen bait that might work as well.

Except a "freshly dead" smelt might be more attractive and better scented than a frozen one.
