Fished my very first kayak bass fishing tournament  on June 24 at Kelsey Bass Ranch,  20 anglers battling for longest 3 fish. I only placed 12th place but it was a blast.

Cool video and nice bass! I've been trying to figure out how to catch bass without much success. Looks like the senko worked well for you. Have you ever fished Lexington Reservoir?

If all else fails, a wacky rigged senko won't.  If you want to catch more bass, learn how to fish finesse.  Won't say they'll all be big, but you'll definitely catch more.  Great video of the tournament though, I would imagine there would be bigger bass in that private pond.

I've caught 8 lb fish there and have caught dozens over 5.

Wacky rig and drop shot is my go to when I don't get good action on other lures. I agree with NOYS, you do get better bit rate with wacky and drop shot. I have not fished Lexington yet. I drive by it quite often and when I do I wanna fish it. My buddy fishes Lex (on a bass boat) often and he usually does good but I don't think he fished Lex since spring though.

Record fish is over 16 lbs and there has bean many 10+ pounder caught. During the tournament, longest fish was over 22 inches and few 20+ inchers were caught. My 3 was pretty average size for that lake.

That was a beautiful day on the water for sure!!  Conditions were fantastic!! I couldn't believe that more big fish weren't caught.  I wish I would have taken my Pro Angler with me especially after we found out that the field of anglers wasn't full.  Oh well, I managed to get a few from the bank with my boys while the competitors were on the water.  It was awesome watching my wife land three new personal bests in one day!

Great video.  Looking forward to more events like this from the Motherlode area lakes!
