Just a heads up this weekend looks great for anything diving and fishing above Bodega Bay north but if your coming from the valley or the foothills and take hwy37 Sears Point is "NASCAR" is going all weekend so expect hours of delays. Just saying...LOL Might think Mendocino threw Clear Lake would be a better drive.

A pretty good alternate route, depending on where you live is to go over the Richmond San Rafael bridge and go on up 101.

I live in Martinez and that detour only adds about 10 min to a trip to the north coast. Better than hours on 37.

Google mapped it (9 min difference) and it still didn't seem right but I've used it on race weekends and found it a bit more than 10 added minutes but not bad.

This is a good route, just be sure to bring $$ for the northbound traffic tollbooth, I once got a toll evasion ticket going through there, is it still $5

They usually put up warning signs, but I haven't seen them this time. Thanks

I just Googled traffic at sears point at 10:30 am Friday and its already slow in many directions. This is the best weather best tide for diving it just don't get any better and its got to land on NASCAR weekend....The folks that are going to Mendo have the right idea hwy 20 there is some construction zones but might only be weekdays.

Right now Google shows taking 37 is 40 minutes longer than taking 12.

Saw the signs for the NASCAR race on my way home from Tomales Bay Thursday. Plus on Thursday it took me 90 minutes from the west side of Petaluma to reach the the Hwy 80/Hwy 12 junction.  (I was driving  back to Davis). It was a lousy drive home from a beautiful morning. It was worth it.

Timing is everything. By the time I headed out from American Canyon I was able to take 37 and did 65 from Vallejo to sears point. Lakeville Rd was slow but that's just Friday commute traffic. Hopefully I'll get lucky again on the trip home.

I was in that mess on Thursday as well.  By saying it was 90 minutes tells me you are not one of the schmucks that ride the left lane until the end and fuck everyone over trying to cut in at the last minute.   :fire

I used to commute to from Santa Rosa to SF every day for 25 years now I see the poor people on 37 backed up for hours "every day" man I could not do it.
I went Sat fishing spent the night and was going to dive Sunday but the water looked like brown pea soup so I came home Sunday at 7 am from Tomales and never had any traffic at all whew ! What a weekend for fishing the weather was just super.
