there is actually a lot of sting rays in this area, this is just south of where our house is. when we were young we were taught to shuffle not walk when the tide was out on the sand flats, that way you didn't step on them, they will bury themselves in the sand on low tide, and if you step on them they whack you, but if you shuffle they will just flutter and swim away if enough water.
