I joined a while back but have just kayaked the bay, no fishing. Now I'm gearing up with eventual goal of being comfortable enough to snag some halibut.

I've only caught halibut on a charter boat before. I've seen videos of people catching halibut in sf Bay from Hobie island like Halibu77.

I have a Hobie tandem island. I just got a fish finder so plan on scouting some areas w/o actually fishing to get sense of effort to get to/from locations and hopefully see and learn some kayak fishing in the bay.

I'm based near Richmond marina and have made it to Angel Island, Treasure Island from Richmond (sail+pedal power).

I've put in at Alameda before but only did a small tour of the estuary.

Hope to see you out on the water! If there are any halibut hunters that wouldn't mind a spectator please let me know.

I don't know necessarily have anything against other fish, I just know that halibut is great eating.

Welcome to the madness. Fellow AI owner and halibut hunter here, although I fish mostly in and around Santa Cruz.
