I finally settled on a good birthday present/getaway for wife. I asked her what she may be interested in doing for her birthday and she said maybe a yacht cruise on the bay. I thought to myself unless they allow me to run a trolling rod off the side of the yacht that doesn't sound to exciting to me. Then she said maybe a hotel stay... I told her I know just the place! When I said the Shelter Cove Inn she said oh that sounds nice. Then I showed her some pics and that it is right on the ocean she quickly deduced that I want to go there to go fishing and reminded her of how much she loves to fish too. I told her that it is her weekend though and we can do whatever she wants too. That being said i told her I have to bring at least some fishing stuff because I was planning a romantic dinner with freshly caught lingcod. She was not at all impressed with that idea but is still excited to go to the hotel. I doubt she will let me bring a kayak but no way our we going without any fishing stuff at all. Either way it will be my first time going up there and it should a fun weekend.

That's awesome.  Fresh lingcod was a good angle.

I'm assuming you are referring to the tides Inn. Definitely a beautiful location and plenty of spots to shore fish there too.

Make sure you drive over the hill from Garberville to Shelter Cove during daylight. It's a steep and windy one with quite a few new potholes.

Give Eric a call.  I am sure he has a loaner kayak for you so no need to bring one.
