Yeah, I'm a terrible kayak rod fisherman. There I said it. I've basically only ever tied on hex bars and bounced them off the bottom for ling.

Besides an assortment of those, what should I get for Alaska and Baja? Is there anything besides live bait to go after salmon and halibut with? I don't think I'll do much rod fishing in Baja, but if theres a cheap assortment I can get I'd rather have it and not use it than wish I had it. Thanks.

Since you won't be doing a lot of line fishing just stop by a local bait and tackle shop and ask what the go to for the area is and pick up a couple.  Most of the time they can also be used elsewhere on your trip.  If they break off or you lose the gear then jump in and spear a fish.

Let me know when you make it down to Ft Bragg and I will tell you what's biting.  [emoji3]

Gio,

There's an old book "The Baja Catch by Niel Kelly"
that would probably be perfect for what you'll be doing down south.

Maybe on the way to and from your diving grounds.

Gracias. I keep forgetting I'm not going to some remote island. Fishing is kind of a thing there. I'll just find something up there.
