I like that they include a sound clip.  I was on the Delphinus in Johnson Strait (near Vancouver), and the captain had a hyrophone he tossed over the side and plugged into the boat PA.  We could hear the orcas for hours after we couldn't see them any more.

Cool!

But I wish they wouldn't have called orcas "killer whales"... They're actually in the dolphin family..

Very cool!

Was in Puerto Vallarta once scuba diving and the dive master stopped the guided underwater tour turned to the group and pointed to his ears.

At first I thought he was having troubles equalizing but what he was doing was telling us to listen.

The humpbacks that we saw on the surface prior to descending were communicating with one another underwater.

They made that same exact sound  :smt007

That's awesome! And next time I fart, I can prove to people that I'm really just speaking "blue whale".

Well, they are a "toothed whale" (Odontoceti), which includes all the dolphins and porpoises, as well as the whales that have teeth.  Or maybe you'd prefer Killer Cetacean?   :smt064

Thanks for sharing.  Pretty cool.

I've been fortunate enough to come across a Blue whale in the wild resting or sleeping.  We were on our way back from Albacore fishing about 100 miles out off of Santa Cruz and I was driving the boat.  After staring at waves and swells most of the day, you could imagine the feeling of coming up on something that big that was stationary and disturbing the normal wave action pattern.  I immediately thought sandbar but we were in 3000 ft of water and many mile from the coast at the time.  Second thought was submarine.  I slowed the boat down and crept towards the strange sandbar only to realize it was breathing and actually a ginormous whale light in color.

A once in a lifetime experience I will never forget.
