Sockeye eggs apparently have a very breathable membrane - hence the spawning all over the place in side waters of lakes!  When you've got water quality like that though....  Such an awesome place.

Very cool.

Love how you can see the progression of changes in their color. Dark schools with the occasional red, to full blown bright red. The shots of them in pairs on the beds were amazing too.

Several California streams and rivers experience a significant landlocked sockeye spawn too. In good years I have seen these streams turn red. It's worth checking out.

I want to go back to Alaska and this video didn't help.
