Hey guys/gals, my name is Nando Nunez and I'm new to this forum. I own a 12' John boat. I usually fish salt waters in it. I'm looking to buy a kayak though.

Any thoughts or suggestions??

Get a PFD, a wetsuit or drysuit and a waterproof VHF radio.
Also consider a 14ft kayak. It will be more stable and faster than the 10- 12 ft boats.

Welcome  :smt006. Kayak-wise, the selection is endless. Do you have a budget? Keep in mind, you still need to buy a whole lot of safety gears (pfd, vhf radio, wetsuit/drysuit, etc) Then there's paddle vs pedal kayaks. Do you want a very stable, but a slower and heavier kayak OR faster yet tippy? There will be compromise somewhere. You need to be very specific what you need/want in a kayak, then we can point you in the right direction.

Just got mine Nando. And they are correct. Getting your yak is first. But that's not the half of it. In addition to the aforementioned is your seat, net/gaf, stringer, fish grippers. Once you got it, dont look back. Just fish on forward! Most guys here have been helpful to me.

Thanks everyone, I would say that I have a budget of 2G's. I have some gear from fishing fro. My boat but I'm sure most won't be the best for a yak
