i believe he purchased that 2015 T13 yesterday, which was a great deal.  surprised no one else swooped in on it at that price.

Yea, I got a call from Lox late that night and said his original sale fell through so I swooped in to the rescue. I'm pretty excited. I'll look into a good class, you guys have made good suggestions. I'm also going to stick to lakes to start out, weather tides and surf are more predictable in them.

That's a good boat.

Don't get complacent in lakes tho. Just because it doesn't look as scary doesn't mean that it can't humble you just as fast. Just make sure you practice your paddling and self rescue reentry skills so you have it down cold. Dress appropriately for water temperature, and wear your pfd.

Have fun, I look forward to meeting you on the water some day.

I believe one of his first events will be our HOW event end of this month.  Our boys will get him squared away with the basics at least.

Tides are especially predictable in lakes...

For that kind of money, you can buy a brand new Vibe Sea Ghost 130. Check them out, I love mine. 13' comes with a stadium seat, rails, and lots of other good stuff! Head Waters Kayak in Lodi has them.

I started Kayak fishing last year. I read through these forums a few times and did a lot of searches. Here is the jist of what I learned.

People die while kayaking on the Ocean. Going out alone, ill equipped and unprepared can make you that stat.

NEVER go out on the ocean alone.

ALWAYS have a charged radio, whistle, PFD (not to be confused with a PDF), and immersion gear.

Fill your kayak with pool noodles.

Whenever you go out with a group you've never been with before let them know you are a novice. I found that they tend to not only appreciate knowing, but will keep a better eye on you.

My dog will abandon me if a seal jumps on my kayak.

I am not nearly the angler I once thought I was.

I get seasick now (I didn't used to).

The first kayak you buy may not be the kayak you enjoy the most. I started out with a Tarpon 120. I'm now in a Thresher 140 and looking at a Radar 135 or similar pedal kayak.

The weight rating on a kayak is not as straight forward as it seems. For instance a 350 lbs weight rating on a kayak does not mean you need to weight less than 350 lbs. It means you and all your gear should be a maximum of 262 lbs. 350-25%=262.5

If you dont eat the fish taco you will be shunned.

If you are from Sacramento you post everything in a single thread.

That is all great advice! Some nuances in there nobody has shared with me yet  :smt044

Fortunately for me, I am just as good at fishing as I think I am haha. I am just as amazed as the fish is every time I catch something.

Also, I can almost guarantee I will puke, part of paying your dues I suspect.
