In Oakland Pipe Spy is good for the camera work and my neighbor who is a plumber recommends Star Rooter and Plumbing for sewer lateral work,  unfortunately not going to be cheap since you are in a hurry.

Good luck!

Cool, thanks!

I think we're going to have to go with low-bidder on this one, rush be damned. Worst case, we'll just get a porta potty for the duration of a trenching/replacement. We did that when we moved in and gutted the bathroom. It did indeed suck, but we know we can survive it. No kids, just two adults, so it's a bit more in control...or so I think :)

i feel you man.  my sewer main line gets blocked a few times a year.  luckily i dug out a 3'x4' section about 3 feet deep to find the main line which, to my surprise, was only a 3" pipe.  i then installed a 2-way clean out.  that was a lot of freakin' work (even with power shovel), in pouring rain, during xmas break!  i then bought a harbor freight version of what the pros use (drum snake with autofeed) and it works about 4/5 times (already got my money's worth). however, when it doesn't work, i call a local plumber (one I trust) to snake it out. i know one of these days the snake is not gonna work, and the sewer line is gonna collapse.  i keep telling myself i need to hire someone to put a camera down to see how bad the pipe looks, but i keep procrastinating. thanks for the reminder and good luck! i no longer take flushing of my toilet for granted.

Got any friends that might rent you a small rv with shower and bathroom? No need to sleep in it but the shower part beats the gym or swimming pool  :smt006

that's a solid idea. I don't know anybody with a small RV, but maybe I just rent one and take the opportunity to just get out of town :)
