Thought I would share this from Albion River Campground.

BRIDGE UPDATE: On another note, Caltrans has repaved the bridge and is in the process of retro-fitting it for earthquakes. It does not appear they will begin work on replacing the bridge until 2020 - 2021.. So we will be operating as normal until that time. We will continue to keep you advised of the ongoing bridge saga.

I went out diving out of Albion recently and only difference I saw was the soft ramp near the bridge was covered by large boulders.  Apparently they close it during the winter and you have to drag your kayak over the boulders or wheel it to the beach.

seems to me that there are other more critical infrastructure needs in this state besides replacing a functioning yet obsolete bridge.

Is that normal procedure, wait 73 years to do the earthquake retrofit and then tear it down 3 years later? I guess that will be a bit of a detour after they tear it down.

Was thee in a travel trailer this year and it scared the crap out of me.  Has anyone with a trailer or 4th wheel had to back up because they couldn't see someone going up or down?  Backing up around the hairpin turn half way down or back onto the bridge has me puckered[emoji15]
