Thanks for the advice. I didn't see any worms and they tasted great but after reading all of the replies I'm grossed out on eating them again. I'll use them for bait next time.

I don't know why I didn't get one f ing sand dab. I tried a sabiki baited with squid and a ball sinker on top and bottom.

I also tried a rockfish leader with squid and a ball sinker on top and bottom.

I didn't have any other sinkers with me. Maybe a pyramid would have had better luck?

Or maybe there were no sand dabs there?

Or more likely, I don't know what the hell I'm doing.

How deep were you fishing? If I had to guess, not deep enough.

Up here in Humboldt the sand dabs move around quite a bit. I've had fays where I couldn't find them anywhere, and days they are really plentiful.
