I wanted to share an inexpensive rod that I've been really happy with. It is from the Daiwa FT Boat series, model FTB701MHF, and was only $20 at my local tackle shop. Weighs less than 14 ounces, nice ceramic guides, has held up fine to some abuse and has enough backbone to pick up a 15 pound weight.

The tip on this particular model is probably stiffer than you would want for sturgeon or mooching salmon, but it feels just about right for jigging up chunky lings.

Now if I could only find a reel that was similarly light, strong, and reliable, even at four times the price...

Anyone else have favorite value rods to share?

I have picked up a few inexpensive Daiwa rods that I am happy with and that suit my needs. Big 5 carries them. The supplier must have noticed that some models have been selling. Noticed  big price percentage increase on some of my favorites.
Enjoying the fam

The 7' medium ugly stick tiger is a good cheap rod that'll last forever.
