Mainly I use Farmer John wet suits with top layering depending on conditions but have been finding some wear and tear from what I think is more minimal use. Granted it should still have sufficient life, I am thinking ahead and saving for a dry suit. A relief zipper and comfort ability for longer days also sounds much better. Didn't find much info regarding Stohlquist while searching but can anyone who has tried or heard about preferably the Amp, Shift or EZ let me know your overall thoughts?

Also regarding the sizing chart, how true to size are they especially when I'll be wearing extra layers throughout the winter? (Medium seems to be fine for average build, 6' 175lbs and 32'' waist. Or large for being on the border and for layers?) New territory for me so want to get it right the first time while still doing research before pulling any trigger. With that being said I know Kokatat would be #1 but for work reasons I am trying to stick with Stohlquist, for now..

Much appreciated.

I bought a used Kokatat from the Kayak Academy in Issaquah Washington. They had a great selection of use dry suits and were pretty well informed on sizing.  You might check with them on the recommended size for you. I was passing right by them on a trip so it was easy to stop and try stuff on.  I think they would be a good resource for you if your dry suit shopping - even if it's by phone.  They had multiple brands in stock used and new.  I was surprised at the inventory because it's a business that feels like its in someones backyard!

Also I bought a used suit because it was worth sacrificing the manufacturers warranty (the penalty for buying used) for the discount to get the lighter and more comfortable Gortex material.
