I've done some searching and I swear there was some sort of map here but I couldn't find it.  I've never been to doran/bodega for kayaking, but am plenty familiar with hmb. Could anyone guide me to an approximate good place to drop traps for an overnight soak or two; or is it really just like hmb where is "somewhere off the beach area"

Also, is it a typical surf launch off the beach or what's the usual plan of attack?

I'll be staying at a rental place near there Nov 11-13. Anyone have a yak or two I could borrow? I can't see renting a kayak for $65. Could probably throw some goodies in when I return them.

Thanks!

just make sure you have leaded line or you have weights on your rope. some boaters will cut your line if it is floating around.
mark them so you can tell them apart from the distance, there will be a lot of them around you.
Do not place them close to the channel, if your trap does not have a weight inside of it, it will move with the current/tide.
lookout for the sea lions, they will robe you of your bait, even if it is inside the trap.

Thank you very much guys. The sea lions actually ripping through Danielson traps now?

Also, still on the lookout for 2 yaks I can borrow for the weekend (or just a few hours every day if you're staying @ Doran that weekend). Really just run'n'gun trips to drops traps or pull them.

I got a couple you can borrow if you can pick them up from me on the way through.

Alright guys, the day is fast approaching and the swell forecast looks pretty interesting to say the least.

Is doran going to be crabable? I'm assuming a surf launch near the jetty really shouldn't be too bad, but like I said I'm not familiar with the area.

There might be a little shorebreak but launch will be easy next to the jetty and once you get past the jetty it will be a little bumpy. Last weekend was forecasted bigger swell but it was super clean swell and no wind so it wasn't a problem. There were huge waves near "D" so be cautious if you end up going that way. Last weekend the crabs were scattered and not too concentrated anywhere. We did better with rings than traps. This weekend might be a little breezier I think the forecast says up to 10 so just keep that in mind. I would also keep in mind the 6 foot tide change from 830 am to like 3 pm. My boyfriend and I will be there he has a big beard and I'm a blonde girl you can't miss us come say hi!

Thanks for the intel Annie. Gives me a huge feeling of relief.  I'll be dropping 3 traps Friday afternoon and doing quick checks and rebait once or twice Saturday and Sunday morning.

Won't be hanging around much but I'll definitely say hi if I see you.
