Russian, Sonoma Sunday, Monday 3/18,19

I got Monday off so I plan on Drifting the Russian and Maybe  hitting Lake Sonoma depending on reports I get Saturday.

I'm looking at Sunday afternoon and full day on Monday might be the last chance for steelies in the middle section of the Russian.

The Bass bite at Sonoma went wide open the last 2 days for fish avg. 2.5lbs up to 5.

As a newbie, I don't want to hamper your fishing time, but I would REALLY enjoy learning to fish Lake Sonoma if you're going. Is the water calm enough that I could fish the Russian River in an SOT? The cabin offer is enticing, too, if you don't mind a snorer, but I can do a one-day trip also. Whatcha think?

Hey Mike,

I think I'm game for Monday. I'll have to check with the bosses (both at work and at home).  I think I have everything I need for the russian except a 10 lb drift anchor (although I do have a scotty anchor lock).  Is there any chance you have an extra drift anchor I can borrow?  I just checked out the flow, Hacienda Bridge is down to 952... took long enough.

Bass fishing on Lake Sonoma also sounds great, I just need to get out fishing again.

Mike... since I haven't drifted for steelies yet, I game to give that go..... only if I can get rigged before then or borrow what's needed.  If that's too much trouble or the group wants to hit Lake Sonoma instead, that's cool with me.

Sounds like fun I plan on getting to the Cabin about noon Sunday and doing a shake down drift then BBQ. What ever you want to do on Monday is fine with me. I will get all the reports I can  so we can decide, I am a steelhead nut but I live 10 min. from the river so can go anytime. I just talked to my neighbor and they fished the Lake today and didn't bother counting it was so good. Crank and spinner baits, senkos too but much slower and nothing dropshotting.  The river is very clear so bring small stuff 10 lb line is cool. Brian I call it a cabin but its a funky 3 bedroom house with a fenced yard so if your Boss and Owen want to come and just hang out its cool. I have other boats they can use to go across the river to a great beach. I have a huge bedroom you can have or a large trailer if you want more privacy. I will let you know about the anchor I think I can borrow one. I wil PM you contacts and map.

I'm not sure what time I'll get there tomorrow, but I'm really looking forward to it. What can I bring for the BBQ  (or breakfast, for that matter )? How many will be there (I count 4 to 6+)?

I'm fishing the Russian Sunday morning with a friend, so tomorrows out, but Monday sounds great. Either place is cool with me. Just let me know which one tomorrow evening, so I can retool the fishing gear and boat. If we do the Russian, I have another anchor if someone needs one. They are 14lbers tho. As much as I love the steelies, bass would be great too. Starting to get the spring spawn itch...

Not sure yet Don we will decide this afternoon after doing a short drift on the Russian.   

I hit the lower river Guerneville area this morning, and nadda!! Didn't see any sign of fish in the area. I'm leaning towards Lake Sonoma. I think it's about time to hang up the long rods, and get to bassin. I can go till early afternoon, but gotta be home by 4ish at the latest.

I'm away from coast for a few week...  How was the fishing!?  I hope it went better this time!
