I am trying to gauge interest in a full moon night fishing tournament for stripers and catfish. I would put my skiff in the water and float lights in the water to create a massive school of bait ( shad ) that would attract stripers, bass, crappie, catfish...etc

I would be having the tourney at New Hogan Res. in Valley Springs, about .5 hr east of stockton. Dates I am looking are Saturday night June 30th or July 28th.

I have fish for bass at night in many tournaments. I would like to do it for the fun of it and why not striper's.
I personally think this would be fun. I'm up for it.

Awesome idea!

Out of my range, though.  :smt010

That sounds very cool. Might come at a bad time for me but I'd be interested!

Last summer we were out on the delta until 10:00 or so and that was a blast.

Sounds like fun any group campsites up there?
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

There campsites at the lake.

The  lake can get crazy during the day from boat traffic, but at night there is a 15 mph speed limit that is 'sometimes enforced'.  The heavy boat traffic helps to shut the bite off during the hot day. When the boat traffic slows down, the fish start to feed more aggressively. SOme of my most productive days have been trolling 35 ft deep with heavy boat traffic though.

If you have never fish under lights, it is a trip because you might see crappie and bass suspended below, then a big ole momma striper will curise through and scare the bait off!
