I've paddled class lV and V whitewater for 27 years and led raft and Kayak trips for 16 years for O.A.R.S. But I've only been in the ocean a few times to surf big ol waves in Santa Cruz and Davenport. Other then that I don't know much about the ocean.

I would love to meet someone(s) to paddle and fish with and learn from. I have a lot of boating gear- 2 sit on tops, a nice 16' real sea kayak and my little river/surf boat, 1 14' Sotar river raft, 1 14' avon river raft, two Oar frames, 6 oars, etc etc etc! Lol

I can paddle mostly  Fridays thru Sundays. Any advice from anybody is very much appreciated.Hope to meet someone soon because I bought all my fishing gear and am ready for RF season to open!

Hello Keith! nice to meet you. Keep an eye on the hook up section, this is a great community and people are very helpful. I'm sure someone will go paddle/ fishing with you soon. Like what other members told me when I joined WTTM(welcome to the madness)  :smt006.

Wttm.  Stay safe out there.  Recommend reading up on safety before venturing out.  ;)

Thanks Pete, I've been ultra busy ( like most people these days!) and need to check this more. I'd Love to go out with you sometime and learn all I can. The paddle skill part I'm ok with ( I've paddled and guided class lV & V whitewater since 1985) it's the fishing in the ocean part that I don't have skills! But I do have gear LOL. Even bought a fish finder.

Next time you go and wouldn't mind me tagging along I'd love to go. Please don't give up on me if I can't It is just I'm an Orthopedic implant rep and I really never know when I'm going to work as far as trauma is concerned.

Thanks for the reply and I do hope to meet you soon. Wife and I fishing from shore today, but I wanna get off shore bad.

Take care KJ

Welcome to the Madness KJ what an Idyllic spot "westport" found this on bing: http://westportca.org/ so if you got kids looks like a fun day for the locals, even if you dont :smt044 :smt044 :smt044

only place I've been up there is Union landing for abs...that area is known GWS attacks...bought bunch of diving gear and was trying to dive it back in 06...noticed no one was diving when I asked a rockpicker "why" no one was diving he said "I used to until my buddy had his head bit off" :smt009 Big Seal colony there...u can guess I resorted to rock picking :smt003 tons of abs lots of clickers...

just a hop skip and a jump from you is Caspar beach, Russian Gulch, endless choices hope to Cya OTW soon Brother :smt044 :smt044 :smt044

It's all about Today!!! Because who knows what tomorrow will bring... so Better get OTW n GetSome

Sledge,
I heard that shark story! That's one thing about the river ( minus Africa) you aren't going to get your head bit off! I don't know the statistics on how many shark attacks are kayakers, but I have been telling myself in my 16' boat it's unlikely but maybe in my play boat cuz it looks like a seal for sure.  I may be in denial but it's working so far! LOl

Last time Keith checked in to NCKA was Jun 2012.  You can see that kinda info by clicking on the members name.  You can also send them a message that way too.
