After reading the new crab pot requirements, I am throughly confused. I need to add an additional destruct escape port? My lid is closed with destruct cotton  and a bungee. Will this suffice? It seems a bit strange that I need to add a closed hatch that is held by cotton when my 26 inch diameter lid is held by cotton. Am I miss reading this.
I only fish on days that end with Y

You are OK.  Your destruct device is larger than 5" diameter when rotten.  As long as it is held closed with a single strand of the correct size cotton twine.  A link was posted this morning by Hojoman that explains very clearly.  Seems to mostly be the Danielson folding traps that need some modification.
