Rancho Seco 3/17/07

Got a late start today, on the water at 10am, off around 12:30. Warm weather with very little breeze. Lots of pontoons on the water due to a fly fishing derby. Those guys were all over the lake and according to the ones I talked to, didn't catch many fish.

I took my time scouting the shallow waters and could see nests or spawning beds being created. The bass are moving up to the shallows. I caught three LMB within the first 30 min, then nothing. Got lots of hits and lost a few after that.

This was a sad sight. I saw this white thing on the water and thought it was a plastic bag.
I went over to pick it up and found this huge dead bass. Has to be the biggest bass I've ever seen here.

Dang, that floater is HUGE. I'm not sure what I'd do if I hooked into somehting that big.

Good point...I bet you would have a fun time with it!
I would have had a tough time with the light weight rig I was using.
