I'll try to remember to snap a pic of my water bath later today. It's really simple... Basically just trace the outline of your transducer onto the pad, cut it out, goop it down.

Oops... Forgot I offered...

Here are those pics. My "bath" has a partial lid to keep the transducer securely in place.

looks nice and simple. So there was talk earlier about ruining transducers by running them out of water -- overheating i guess. It seems like the water bath or even the goop setup is not much different than running them in the air in terms of keeping them cool.

I haven't heard of that overheating problem, but seems feasible I guess. I don't think any of us kayakers can keep our head units and connections corrosion free and working long enough to experience a premature transducer failure... Never heard of one failing.

You WILL get sand working it's way under the goop over time, BTDT.
Water bath is the way to go.

I tried doing the goop method and it didn't read, and then I tried to water bag method and the water kept going out. So I came up with a better method. The no FF method and follow others  :smt044 :smt044

Ziploc work really good for me!!! Just filled up with water. OG style!  :smt003

Anyone used a water-filled ziploc inside of a water bath to hold it in place?  Any tips for doing this?  I just picked up a used kayak has a little bathtub inside of the hull made of pool noodle material and I highly doubt it retains water.  Thinking I could just use a ziploc filled with fresh water and use the bathtub to secure it.    :headbang:

I can't picture what you're describing here, and I don't understand what "problem" the ziploc is supposed to solve...

If you cut your foam "bath" the right size, your transducer should fit nice and snug. Or you can to what I did and add a "roof" to your water bath to keep the transducer wedged in there. The water stays in there just fine throughout the day, but it leaks out when I flip my yak upside down for transport. No big deal, just takes a few seconds to refill it before heading out.

I used the Garmin in hull kit when installing my stryker 4. Works like a charm. No goop just refill with water when heading out.
