We lost one of our NWKA brothers to Neptune out of Brandon Oregon in a power boat. Not sure of details more then what's here as of now but a tough loss as (Noyaks) William "Bill" Lamica was a good guy that I had the pleasure to meet and corospond with in many emails. He will be missed.

The bar was way bad, 6-8' breaks across and max ebb with a NW swell.  They should never have been there.

RIP.

my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

Better report is here: http://theworldlink.com/bandon/news/dead-after-boat-capsizes-in-bandon/article_91aa2b8c-2549-5bb7-9ac7-036db3d3a3ee.html

Still no information about PFD's other than a mention of personal items floating on the water.  Another post on the OFF forum suggests the boat was new to the owner - they'd spent the prior days rigging basic fishing accessories.

The Bandon Bar is a dangerous crossing, and as Crash pointed-out, it was in "No Go" condition the day of the accident.  It was a needless loss.

I am sorry for the loss their loved-ones are suffering.
