Any intel guys?  I am not going to side load my yak on the RAV4 after putting a quarter-sized ding in the side above the rear window.

Any suggestions for rear kayak loading?  Do any of you guys use those suction things that attach to the glass?  Any of you guys make that PVC thingy to guide the kayak over the rear?

Thanks for any info/suggestions!   :smt006

I use the boat loader attachment for my Yakima bars that extends out far enough so when I load it,it's far enough from the vehicle.i top load my 4runner with it
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

I used to car-top my Revo with Hully Rollers on the back bar and Mako saddles on the front bar.  A foam pad across the back window of the car made it fairly easy to get it on the rollers.

Certain kayaks sits funny loading upside down on my rack. The Tetra 12' Ocean kayak has to be loaded on my 4runner with the rear facing forward. All my other kayaks faces forward. Good luck bro.

I load my 13' Revolution on my 4-Runner by laying a towel over the wind deflector, setting the kayak on the ground with its bow next to one of the 4-Runner's rear tires and the stern lined up with the center of the vehicle.  Then I pick up the bow, set it on my shoulder, and walk the bow over and set it on the towel in the center of the wind deflector.  Then I walk back to the stern of the kayak, pick it up, and slide the kayak forward onto my roof rack.  Then I open one of the 4-Runner's rear doors, stand on the threshold, and flip the kayak up-side down so it's lying on its gunwales. Then I strap it to the roof rack with two 12-foot boat straps, and tie the nose to one of the tow loops on the front of the 4-Runner.  I'm a scrawny old guy, and not a weight lifter, and it's easy to do.

But a warning -  the vehicle needs to be on level ground, or the kayak will try to slide sideways off the back of the vehicle as you slide it up onto the roof rack.

I just use a sweater on the back and slide the kayak onto the rack from there so it doesn't scratch. Try to put one end on ground and one on the roof rack before loading

I use this;
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006VORRHS/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It tilts back.  I set the front of the kayak on the saddle strap. Pick up the back and shove.  At the balance point, it will teeter-totter and gently set on the roof rack.

I have a Hobie PA and use this in a SUV.  I'm also 60 years old.  If I can put a PA on a roof by myself, anyone can!  Ha!

A Malone Seawing with a stinger that slides out the back, worked great on a Jackson Bigtuna over a Subaru Outback.
