The following would be salmon-legal in California, correct? Section 27.80 says "No more than two (2) single point, single shank barbless hooks", and they only have to be < 5" apart if you aren't trolling.

Anyone tried something like this?

I have done that, yes it's legal. But man is it a cluster duck if the water is not clean.

Not sure bout Cali but up here you can buy a two pole validation and fish two rods in certain areas Tillamook bay being one of them.

Just one rod for salmon down here.

You can simplify that rig a little by leaving off the rubber band and just snapping the second lure on after your already deployed and dropping it down. It'll slide down about half way and stop in the "belly" of your line.
