Lake Berryessa Float Tube / Kayak Tourney - March 24 & 25.....

For those of you who like to fish freshwater, Bass-n-Tubes has a complete tourney season (actually 4 different regions -- Travelers, Delta, Shasta, & Central), complete with Angler-of-the-Year and Tournament of Champions at the end of the season.  Most contestants fish out of kickboats (there are a few hard core tubers) but yaks are allowed.  Target is black bass (largemouth, smallmouth, or spotted).  Entry is usually $20 + $5 big fish option.  One caveat -- catch must be kept alive for weigh-in.  I use a homemade livewell; others use mesh or wire bags.  I expect to see a few of you out there next year!  (Mooch, MolBasser, etc.)   - quote from Gordon

So this is a 2 day tourney? do you know where they are launching and I guess camping, can ya fish 1 day??? I'll take a closer look at the site...Thanks........Danglin

2 day tourney, launch is from Steele Park.  To fish just one event of the season (guest) you do not have to be a member of anything, but if you want to fish another one that season you would need to join FLW & BnT.  You will also need a way to keep your catch alive until weigh-in (livewell, follow-me bag, etc.).  Most guys rig a cooler with a bilge pump and aerator.

Drawback of Steele Park is no tent camping (AFAIK), and their RV rates are outrageous ($45/nite) plus $25 to launch, although supposedly if you cartop they will not charge for launch, but you never know...

I may find someplace else to stay and just drive in each day.

Start time is "0-dark-thirty".  They usually have checkin about 30-45 minutes before "first light" and are on the water right around first light.  They'll post the start-end times on the BnT site, probably next week.
