Better Front Latch for Hobie Bow Storage Area

Eh Bruddahs,
I have been looking for ways to secure the front storage area cover on my Hobie Oasis Tandem and have found a great solution that I would like to share. the reason that I wanted to have a more secure latch on the bow storage cover is that when I capsized my kayak a few years ago, the front hatch area seemed to be the most vulnerable to getting water in the hull.
I was looking around at West Marine Oakland and found this Whitecap (chrome plated Brass anti-rattle Hold down) for $15.95.
I bought some flathead stainless steel screws, nylon locking nuts and some larage flat washers.
I just put in on today and it was very easy.
Note: just make sure that the bottom lock down part will pulldown to a tight fit before you drill holes and mount it.

Looks nice and clean it's too bad the bracket wasn't wide enough to use the existing lid holes.

Nice solution. Front hatches are notorious for leaking on Hobies. I've got a simple solution that seems to work well on my Adventure, and will post that after testing it some more.
