I use an Okuma low profile Coldwater reel. Had it for three years now and no issues. Makes targeting suspended fish fast and easy.

Power Pro Depth Hunter metered line might be another option.

X2 on color coded braid. Daiwa j-braid is another good option. You could put the braid on your primary reel with a quality snap or clip then easily trade bait catching rig for whatever you are using for terminal tackle
