I remember.... We were in Bodega bay, doran beach. Someone camped next to us told us what had happened. we packed and rushed home in fear of bridges and other vulnerable structures. Noticing the lack of airplane traffic. Confusion, anger, fear.... that built to anger and hatred of a large group of our population. Over the years, that hatred has cooled, but don't mistake for a moment, that it is gone. I try every time I see burqas, turbans, muslims, not to harden up. To be gracias, accepting, friendly. In return, I have found those "others" to be confused, guarded, fearful. I don't know a solution to all this but as we reflect on 9/11 and what happened so many years ago. I feel profound sadness for all affected by this act. Us, them, our children... If your religion, group, friends, preach hatred towards others. I challenge you to find a better group to be in. We can change the world. I'm starting with ME... Love to you all... Peace to you all... Tolerance to you all...
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

Very very dark day for our country
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Peace, kindness & respect for ourselves and fellow human beings starts with each individual.  We can change the world; as Ron stated, "I'm starting with me".  May all who lost family & friends on 9-11 be given grace and some comfort today and everyday.  When you lose someone; as many of us know,  you never forget them, but you can honor the fallen with being the best we can be.  There is a bad apple in all groups of people; but it's how we (as an individual) act that can show that not everyone is bad.  I want to believe there are more good people than bad.  Peace to you all!

I was in my office with Martin Marietta, I seen the report of first tower, thrn pentagon, Penn field, and second tower. Everyone was concerned and afraid at the same time. I closed the mine, and sent all employees home to be with their families,  with pay, until the situation was understood.
I knew nobody that lost life that day. Years later, Kristen, a girl I was living with, lost her cousin in the first tower. I was with her for two 9/11's, and each was difficult for her.

Lost a lot of lives that day.
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.

9/10 I was on the Darby fire in Calaveras county near Murphy's. We were burned over, my strike team had 7 firefighter take shelter in the cab of one engine while holding their fire shelters against the windows to reflect the radiant heat away. 2 engines were total losses, we were lucky to escape shaken but not injured. We woke up the next morning 9/11 still on the fire line, still in an akward, bewildered state. Then it happened.... the news Radio stations began reporting the first tower being hit, then the second.... Then, we all know what happened next in New York. On the fire we lost our air support, all aircraft was grounded. The tragedy of 9/11 made our experience with near death danger seem so insignificant. 343 Firemen answered their final alarm that day and hundreds of others continue to suffer the effects of "being on the pile" cancer, mental illness, lost relationships, and a host of other issues continue to ravage the brave men and women who "survived".
The skyline of NYC wasn't the only thing that was forever changed that fatefull day. It forever changed America, the emergency services of this Nation, the military and the leadership will never be the same.

Thank you for posting a great and very important memory, I had been married 1 month exactly and it was our first phonecall from my mother in law that said something big has happened, the streets and freeways were desolate in marin and reflection and anger and sadness was born.  I am grateful to have been newly married and to have someone super special to ride that one out.  Still strong 15 years later and grateful for our dwindling freedom :smt006

I have a different perspective, and really have no great love for a religion that condemns anyone who converts from it to death. Sorry acceptance is for those who will be plowed under. Recently I met a couple who were Jewish who had escaped Vienna after Hitler came to power.  Their respective families left Austria, and became refugees in China, just about the time the Japanese took over. They were kept in Ghetto, with little food and basically starved for the next 5 years.  Were it not for Fat Man and Little Boy things for them may have turned out differently.

Burkha's, Hijab's, covers, are a sign of subjugation to man. Nothing more or less. Look at what is happening in Europe, and tell me that is the way you wish to see things here.  A few of us on this board have had the chance to go over there and see what that end of the world is like, Coming here doesn't change them.

My 2 cents.  You can be respectful, but ask yourself would a group of Muslim men be as nice to your wife and daughter?

I was at home lying on the couch sick.
Had a mobile windshield guy out front working on my truck.
I called him in to see the melee that was to forever change our lives.

Was at the gym, there were TVs all over.  Watched until the second plane then went home.  Almost no one was working out, just staring at the tv.

I was a 2L.  Classes went on as scheduled.  In decedent's estates class we covered the Uniform Simultaneous Death Act, which was planned and on the syllabus for that day.  Brutal.
