Guy Kayaking the Mississippi River w/updates

Pretty kool idea... Over 2000 miles. Im always intrigued by kayak camping adventures on the hobies this one is pretty killa!! Twitter updates too...

This is a trip I've always dreamed of doing.  Very cool.

My cousin, Dan Peirce, did the trip solo in a canoe three years ago from St Louis, MO all the way down to Venice, LA.  He said it was amazing which means alot coming from this guy.  He does adventure trips about every other year and this was one of his favorites.

Thats pretty cool! Never Yaked the mighty miss but that would be fun.

This would require a big brass set considering the number of ships that go up and down the river. They create massive undertows and could easily suck a kayak in and under. I lived next to the Mississippi just south of New Orleans for 20 years.

Where ?     I was just down in Venice.  Caught my first Redfish...  ate some Boudin...    nearly got ate by the bugs that come out at night.

Not quite the same, but I also find this race across Missouri pretty fascinating (you have 88 hours max to finish, so just finishing is a major accomplishment):

Chalmette. I spent a lot of time in Venice. Worked on the oil rigs in The Gulf in the summers during college. Caught my helicopters in Venice. The reason I have my Native Mariner Propel was so I could pull the Reds out of the marsh grass. You need to be able to back them out. Hobie could not do it.
