I am all about getting dialed in on being the safest guy out there so you all can stay on the fish and not have to bail me out because of an oversight on my part. The risks I have taken in the past have always been well calculated from decades of experience on the water.Only I have no experience off shore in salty water out of a kayak.I have fished/dove/surfed the entire Marin/Sonoma/Southern Mendo coast since I was a kid.

When I was 10 or so I began fishing for Mackinaw out of a rented kayak until zero dark 30 at Fallen Leaf Lake in the mid 80's when my family rented a cabin for a week during summer vacation.I built their trust the previous seasons after stomping miles of the Tuolumne river, torturing feisty brownies, bows and the occasional brookie till well after dinner time as I felt no hunger until I returned to camp with yet another believable reason why I was late.

I moved to Auburn in the Sierra foothills in 1997 and soon after purchased a Wilderness Systems 12 foot Pungo.By the year 2000 after paddling and trolling most of the West and Eastern slope, tossing hardware and dragging a worm and dodger around,I decided to slap a Minn Kota on the Pungo.I found that ripping plugs without the burden of a paddle allowed me to experience some mind blowing grabs from monster hook jaw browns.

Around the same time a good friend called me on occasion to join him on missions out to Elephant Rock off of Point Reyes to score limits of Abalone until that got shut down.

Since then I scored a 14 foot Pungo and installed a Bassyaks kit and expanded my range between the towns of Bend Oregon and Bishop California to hunt them fat browns.

I recently moved back to the bay area after residing in Bishop/Mammoth/Gardnerville area for 10 years and leased a place at Lawsons Landing with a buddy and slayed fish out of a big boat until they kicked us out to tear the place down.

So here I am,ready to demo all the ocean going kayaks and pull the trigger on the right one.I have to say that I may hold out for a bit as I know many of the new rigs are being developed with electric motors and lithium batteries as a complete package and more and more models will be available in the new year.

I look forward to fishing, crabbing,AB diving and simply taking in the sights of of the North Coasts saltwater, rivers, tributaries and bays.

I am charging to Shelter Cove and Arcata next week to hopefully punish the salmon in a rented S.O.T. kayak for the first time.We will see...

Thanks for listening and may you all be safe until we meet.
