Welcome aboard! Do the homework on the fish finder, vhf, pfd, dry/wetsuit etc. since you're already a kayak in. All can be life saving gear if used properly and won't come that cheap. Lots of great and very recent information, polls and reviews on fish finders/ just about anything you can think of. Just have to search for it and usually sift through a few posts until you find your match.

Thanks. I figured that will take time. I'll pick things uo along the way. For now, my concern is the safety equipment. And safety in general..

Anybody have any recommendations on a fish finder for my Malibu Stealth 12? I guess its all about price ranges. But $20-$250 is what I'd like to spend.

West Marine has a deal for $199 for the Hook4 with Navionics Chip ($100 value) and Sun Cover ($25 Value) right now... Id swoop that up in a heart beat
