I'm not too sure about waders -but am willing to give them a try..the biggest kayak booties I can get are size 15 and they stretch enough to make it a day sitting n my 17's--little tougher on my feet to surf fish in them as they fill with sand--been using bare feet and shorts--not good for sunset and beyond-windy days--and my farmer john which gets sand inside and boots fill up in surgy stuff..works okay -but notice the guys in waders seem more comfy and fish more -move less

wanted a set of rubber??? waders like I see the hard core surf guys wearing something I can keep the sand from filling my booties would be ideal..

would like a good set with good man warranty..if there is such a thing...not looking to by the top of the line but also know folks -know-- and dont want to save and end up buying 3 times etc...worth it to get the best one first--the ocean eats shit up  :smt003
thanks

I say this because I'm now living about a 2 minute drive from a few of the great local mbk /del monte striper holes and am going down in the dusk and early dawn and meeting the local guys (18lber within the last week for this guy)and getting turned onto the right lures and tech and times for this area....no fish yet lol :smt005

but I been down there putting the hours in and had a huge boil behind a pencil popper yesterday
so Im hooked and gonna get a surf monsta soon  :smt003

all this last night-as humpbacks and dolphins and gray whales --birds and bait all were bashing it up and making a churning mess of birds and flippers all right in the area by the yellow cans -under a melting  pt pinos sunset--unreal night...no fish but who cares
6 or so huge , lunge feeders out at 65 f.o.w for an hour in the last light ....birds diving into their open jaws...bashed up bait getting picked off the waves...the group of grays finished its run south and paced us as we head back up to the hotel parking lots .. the grays just off surf.. and now looking down -fish ?? bait were boiling .down off the surf right where just left..one more cast..

I was in shorts ...bare foot ..could not feel my toes...smiling

About two years ago I got a pair of Hodgeman breathable waders WITH A ZIPPER FLY from Cabela's. I hunt ducks, teach wetland pond classes, walk a long ways if needed and have never regretted these. That said, I still use a wetsuit in the kayak, as i adds to the flotation if I go over. For surfcasting and the like, the waders I have are great.

Craig,  I probably only get a year or 2 out of my waders but you have seen how much I walk when I pound the surf. I'm probably walking 1-4 miles a trip. I know when I purchade my waders that they are only gonna last me a year or 2 , so I try to buy accordingly.   I don't like the booted versions bc they are not as comfortable for distances but the trade off is dealing with the sand.

Everybody has their own opinion on which brand and boots or stocking foot.  IMHO  LL bean can't be beat. They have a no hassle lifetime guarantee.  A little bit pricier than the cheaper stuff but warranty more than makes up for it.  You just have to pay shipping to the store and they will send you a new pair, no questions asked.  Not that I would take advantage of it but it is there.

I nullify the warranty when I cut off the stocking foots on my bootless waders so I don't utilize the warranty.  I use wading socks, gaiters and wading/diving boots.  Works for me and the way I fish.

Hope this helps.

one quick note till i get the whole size and final pair.. I went in my farmer john nrs 3m and used my argos xxl  (sp) thin dive booties  last night for an hour and it was the best combo so far...an hour had my boots like water balloons though ,even as i was trying hard to not flood so...waders... :smt044
