Happy Winter All.  We're all praying for rain, right?

Many of you have heard about or have tried some of Kokatat's Angler specific clothing.  When we introduced the line on the fabulous Islander Cortez Banks trip last fall, we said it would be hitting stores in January, and it is!

Seems like most of the inquiries have been about the Tempest Pant, but be sure to check out the entire line at the website:  www.kokatat.com.  Jackets, pants, suits, and also new footwear, lightweight wind and splash wear, shorts and shirts for sun protection, insulation, rashguards.  Don't forget the new Launch Socks...if you have ever frozen your feet on a cold morning launch, but didn't want to wear pants because you knew it was going to warm up later, then this product was designed for you.

Currently in Norcal, Pacific River Supply in El Sobrante has ordered the Tempest Pant.  California Canoe and Kayak and REI are also primary Kokatat dealers.  There is a list of all Kokatat dealers at the website, and you can request any Kokatat product from any of them.  All the products have been built and are on our shelves ready to ship to dealers (caveat: there may be a color or size that is still in production, but it'll get there soon).  Remember, this is a new program for us and our dealers, so your requests and demand for the product will be the feedback they need to keep inventories up and product stocked.  Sorry, but we don't sell anything directly.  Ca Canoe and Kayak can do mail orders.

Sharp-eyed folks (Sean!) will notice that the BAHIA TOUR PFD shown on the website does not show the fishing license window pocket flap.  We DO have the Angler version in stock.  But we also have a lot of the previous model in inventory as well.  Since most of our customers are actually not anglers (I know, it's weird), they don't care much about this, and are happy with the previous model.  But you can specifically request the Angler version at your dealer.  btw, the 'old' version is exactly the same vest and works great for kayak angling just as it is.

Regarding the ongoing discussions about suits vs jacket-pant combos, here's a question:  How many rod/reel combos do you have?  Do you expect one rig to handle all the different fishing you do?  Or do you expect to be able to wear shorts and a tank top year round?  Of course not.  If you're paddling/fishing in different places and conditions, you need different kinds of clothing (which is why Kokatat makes a whole bunch of different items). If you plan to be way out in winter, you probably would want a suit. On the other hand, the Tempest Pant and Jacket combo would probably be plenty for most situations. Of course, a two piece system is more versatile, espcially when you have a few other kinds of tops as well.  Don't forget that undergarments are a critical part of any system - a drysuit worn over jeans and a tee shirt won't do much for you.

The bottom line is that good paddling clothing will make your time on the water more comfortable, safer and more fun.

Remember,
THERE'S ONLY ONE THING THAT IS PROVEN TO CATCH MORE FISH...
MORE TIME FISHING.

Let's hope the rains come and the salmon return to the Sac, and we can all do some great fishing this year.  Thanks for the interest and support.

Oops, correction.  For the Bahia Tour PFD, we will not have the Sand color until later in the spring.

Since the angler shit is so new, can you give me an idea how long it might take for my special order to ship?  Will it take priority over, or be behind bulk product shipments to retailers?

Thanks

PS:  Just a heads up.... Some of the links on your website for the new angler suit will take you to the wrong product.  You have to hunt around a little to find the bad ones....

Colt45,
Thanks for the heads up on the website product links - we're fixing.

All the products in the angler line are either "on the shelf" ready to ship to ordering dealers, or in the production process and will be on the shelf very soon.  Without having the order in front of me, I would guess that CCK will probably have your suit within a matter of days, maybe a week.  If you don't know, Kokatat has a manufacturing plant right here in Arcata, CA, so we're not waiting for some boat from China!

Thanks.  Oh No, I know where it's coming from, that's why I picked you guys (one of the reasons - keep it in America whenever possible!)

I just didn't know how fast you would be able to supply - since it's so new....

That's great news, sounds like there's a good chance I'll have it in a week!  WooHoo!

If it's not in stock, how do you determine what size you need, allowing for undergarments? It's like ordering blindly, isn't it?
