That annoying squeaking sound coming from my mirage drive.
Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not.
Everything is cleaned and freshly lubed, but it still comes and goes.
Well, today I found the culprit.
I finally had a 'free' day to fix what I wanted to fix, not what I had to fix.
Went through the Revo top to bottom, inside and out.
New bungies all around.
Took off the old school bungie pegs they used as paddle keepers and made something that won't rip my wetsuit when getting back on the kayak.
Got rid of the mesh covering the side pockets.
New JB Weld on the bow and keel.
Freshened up the duct putty and put new plastic lining all around.
New bilge pump keepers just inside the hatch.
Ordered new drain plugs for beneath the seat.
Went through the drive, removing the pedals and cleaning and lubing it all.
The squeaking was caused by the cables on the drive barely rubbing against the small splash guard on the drive itself.
I removed the splash guard and took it to the bench grinder.
Didn't need too much material removed to give the cables a clean path.
The drive is completely silent now. Woo Hoo!

My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Nice. Any noise from the mirage drive always annoys me, a lot. It took me a while , but I finally silenced mine.
I don't like stuff that sucks.
