Needless to say but I've struggled getting out on the water with all that I've been dealing with as of late. I sure hope my desire to fish comes back soon

Yesterday I got up early and was planning on doing some work on the garage and install new sounds speakers in the truck. Jump in and got the new speakers installed and it was already starting to get hot. So I look over and see the yaks hanging there all hot and dry. Next thing you know the yaks on top of the truck and I'm pulling out with no clear destination other than some high back country.

As I'm driving up I am thinking I'm gonna do a new lake. So I chose Weaver Lake as today's adventure. After a short stop to top off my thirsty ass truck I hit the dirt. As I was rounding bowman I see the road up to Weaver and it's no joke right from the start. Switch in lot 4-Lo and slowly start to climb. The trail eases up a bit but still 4x4 access only. I get up to what I believe is Weaver and see no trespassing signs and I'm like okay this sucks. So I turn around and head back down. Well I didn't do good enough map recon because that was McMurray Lake and Weaver just a little fatter out. But that's fine I will fish Weaver next week for sure.

After getting off the trail I head towards Sawmill/Faucherie. I ended at Faucherie and find some shade to take a nap for a couple of hours. While I was hoping for some peaceful sounds of nature the group campground sounded like they had a dance party going. After tuning out the blaring music I was able to get some rest.

I hit the water around 3:30 and 10 minutes into the troll I hook up and land a 13" brown. YES!!! I so need to feel the battle between us. I keep trolling and not long after I get another hook up that came off after a short battle. I ended up getting a total of 4 hook ups with just the one fish landed.

As I was nearing the end of my time on the water I went over to an island where a dad and two kids where camping. I had been watching the kids fishing on a canoe all day. I went by them earlier and they asked me if I had caught anything. I responded I had one and they excitement of me catching something in their voices was almost magical (instantly brought a smile to my face). So as I get to the island the kids are still out fishing and I ask the dad if they would like my trout. In disbelief he says the kids would love it. So I get close to the island and we introduce our self and I hand him the fish. I could tell that it meant a lot to him.

I head across the lake to load up and as I'm packing I hear two little voices yell across the lake "thank you so much" and right then I felt better.

After loading up it was a long drive out 4x4 by headlight is pretty exciting. Got home about 11pm and quickly passed out.

Hope you enjoyed the story and the pics.

Sadly for me to do something like that, would have be a weekend excursion.   I have no "High back country" with in 5 hours of me..... :smt010. Loch Lomond here in Felton is closed to any outside boating (I'm not renting their boats any longer)
Prior to it being closed off for kayaking, it was my "Get-away"  :smt012

thanks for the report. Bummer about Weaver. I have been there a few times. Actually caught my first mackinaw from Weaver Lake. Not many in there from what I heard.

The drive in is always fun :) Some big rocks and ruts to deal with. Not too many camping spot however.

Planning on going sometime next month. I heard the biting flies were out in full force 2 weeks ago. :(

Nice gesture on the fish part :)

Can't wait to troll all of the lakes over there...

Awesome story! Cool thing giving away the trout, and the whole trip would be worth it to hear those kids yell "Thank you" across the lake!

Great report James!  Jealous too.  Miss the days that I could go on an adventure without planning it well in advance.  Cool move on giving the kids the fish too.  Your one heck of cool dude  :smt003

Weaver is not a bad little spot. I got a couple small macks from there last year. Was there a bunch of people at faucherie? I've been wanting to go there, I've heard of some nice fish coming out of there...
