Rumor has it he was under power, he is full on outside the clear obvious channel markers. The pin is the Rock and the two small white dots are the channel markers.

Easy to write off as no brains but people make simple mistakes and kick themselves later all the time.  Stuff happens, hope is insurance is up to date.

Looks like it just happened, and it was due to engine failure. It happened right in front of the coast guard station, so they were there within minutes.

Missed it by thaaat much! Honestly it can happen to the, well not best, but the better boatmen. Saw a guy called Dory Dan smack the smaller wash rock at Anchor Bay with his prop. It took about three days to get a diver with a puller and replacement prop out there, all while he was catching no salmon. The diver starts charging when he arrives at the beach. Sever of us yakkers were taking him fresh water for him and his half dozen chihuahua mutts.
Warning! Retiree; Knows it all and has plenty of time to tell you about it.

I've done stupid stuff like that, Napa river is notorious for having sand bars.... So sketchy on low tide. You could be in 6' of water then move and be in 1' of water real quick.
