My buddy mike and I are klamath bound wknd of august 14th. His dad lives in crescent city near the harbor so we will be hitting the klamath mouth for a few days before they start the count. Mike has the klamath mouth and ling spots down, but not butts. We will be yak fishing for lings so figure might as well try for butt meat while were at it. Seems like a decent time of year for butts up there but any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Keep in mind that Pac. Halibut is closed for the second half of August. If you're only around for that weekend, you're fine.

Good luck!

I'd heard from somewhere (can't remember where) that some CA halibut were showing up in the harbor.  Could  be worth exploring that option, especially if you can nab some live bait.
