I recently purchased and outfitted a 12 ft. Liquid Logic Manta Ray Kayak for fly fishing.  I have been paddling (practicing) in the Oakland estuary, near Treasure Island, and I plan on launching at Bethel Island (probably near Russo's) over the weekend.

I am looking forward to learning the "out of the way" places to fly fish for bass, float the local rivers, and salt water fish for jack smelt and schoolie stripers.

Sure is different from where I learned to fish in Florida and North Carolina, but I believe wonderful experiences are ahead for this "50 something".  I'll do my best to keep you posted on what I find, and hopefully be able to meet a few of you along the way.

Welcome from another 50 something! Great sport and great people to fish with. Hardest part is loading the yak after a long day. You will certainly catch more fish and fish more often.

Hey Steve,
50 0n the nose here.
There's lots of fun in the future with the yak. I've had mine a couple years now, and they really put the fun back in fishin for me. I'm a lifetime angler myself, and fully hooked on the yak thing... Welcome, Jonesz

Steve welcome I am not quite as old as those other guys. :smt044 48 coming up but I did have an incredable year last fall with the striper's in the delta. I was out of Franks tract yesterday looking for the bass but that will be in the fishing report.

See ya out there
